Cross Country Skiing

Ramsau am Dachstein is one of the top winter sports destinations in cross-country skiing. As host of the Nordic World Ski Championships, Ramsau has a network of 150 km of classic trails and 70 km of skating trails for the sporty cross-country skier. In the World Cup Stadium there is a children’s cross-country skiing park and a night trail which is lit daily until 21 clock.

  • Trails starting point in front of the Hotel

    The Hotel Timmelbauerhof is located directly on the trail network. You can immediately strap on your cross-country skis and enjoy the holiday on the trail.

  • 220 km of daily trail fun

    The trail network extends over the entire high plateau of Ramsau am Dachstein and is ideal for beginners as well as for sporty cross-country skiers.

  • Equipment rental and cross country skiing schools

    In the local sports shops there is of course a rental and waxing service. The cross-country skiing experts from the 3 cross-country ski schools are happy to help you with tips on the right technique and basic knowledge.

  • Panorama Trails Dachstein

Ski and Snowboard

Ramsau am Dachstein is in the Ski Association Ski amadé. 5 regions with 760 km of slopes and 270 modern lifts and cable cars. The large ski mountains of the 4 mountains ski area are only a few minutes by car. Planai, Hochwurzen, Hauser Kaibling, Reiteralm and the family ski resort Ramsau offer top pistes. On the Dachstein glacier you can ski at 2700m above sea level in autumn and long into spring.

  • 1 Ski pass for 760 km of slopes

    On a ski holiday with only one ski pass! At the large ski resorts from mountain to mountain. The “4 mountains ski area” connects Hauser Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen and Reiteralm.

  • Car or Ski Bus

    Free ski bus to the surrounding ski areas in Schladmig-Dachstein with valid ski pass. The bus stop is 600m from the hotel. By car you need between 10 – 20 driving minutes.

  • Skiregion Ramsau

    The family ski area, including Rittisberg, is ideal for beginners. The wide and sunny pistes invite you to a leisurely skiing day in Ramsau am Dachstein.

Ski Tours and Freeriding

For touring skiers  the Dachstein glaciers and the original surroundings of Ramsau am Dachstein open up numerous possibilities for wonderful tours. When the snow conditions are favorable, Freeriders will find plenty of opportunities to pull their turns off the groomed slopes, into the deep snow . The most spectacular of the descents is the one through the Edelgrieß, which challenges even trained alpinists.

  • Ski Tours in Ramsau am Dachstein

    A total of 16 different ski tour variants exist in the region. A certainly unique nature experience in the midst of untouched winter landscapes.

  • Austria’s National Skitour

    The National Ski Tour is 25 km long, prepared and therefore recommended for beginners. You can also master the Dachstein crossing with alpine skis, with short carrying or skating passages. For the return transfer from Obertraun or Hallstatt, simply register at the valley station of the Dachstein cable car.

  • Pist Ski Touring

    A further tour offer is available on the ski mountains Hochwurzen and Galsterberg. Here own ascent routes and descents were created only for ski touring.

Winter Enjoyment

In winter time the Ramsau mountain and nature landscape presents it self with snow-covered forests and extensive, snow-covered meadows. Pure winter fun on the sunny side –  far from the ski slopes and street noise. The wonderful winter hiking trails on the high plateau of Ramsau am Dachstein lead you by foot or by horse-drawn carriage to the most enchanting places.

  • Winter Hiking

    Winter hikers start directly from the Hotel Timmelbauerhof into the 50 km network of trails. The prepared trails usually run flat with little ascent. Alternatively, you can also use the bus for a section. Many cozy inns and farmhouse parlors with sunny terraces along the paths, look forward to welcome you for a stop.

  • Horse Sleigh Ride

    There is nothing better than discovering the wonderful landscape on a horse-drawn sleigh. Over 20 different horse-drawn sleighs drive the classic Kulmbergrunde which takes about 2.5 hours including a stop.

  • Snow Shoe Hiking

    In Ramsau am Dachstein you can hike on the specially signposted snowshoe trails through the gorgeous winter landscape. Mountain guides and ski schools offer daily guided tours in the picturesque “Ramsauer Almen” area.

  • Off track

    Lots of fun and variety also off the slopes. Take the toboggan, over the ski path, to Ramsau Ort. A race on the 3.5 km long natural toboggan run at the Rittisberg during the night. Another winter fun is available at the “Drachenlift” with the “Zipfelbob Bahn”. Or enjoy a tour on the Fatbikes in the snow.
